Local authorities cutting support services

Updated: Jul 24, 2018

Three quarters of local authorities have cut the support services they offer to schools in the areas of behaviour improvement and child mental health/social & emotional support. Spending on these services has fallen every year since 2010 and yet the needs have increased. The Government Adviser and leading Psychologist Professor Tanya Byron says that local authorities must be held to account for supporting the mental health needs of children (which includes supporting schools) and, as your Consultant, I can work with you to ensure that you get the support you need from other professionals in the multi-agency teams. I am independent from the local authority teams and I can challenge on your behalf!
